Who Are We?
The Gorge Magazine is a quarterly magazine showcasing life in the Columbia River Gorge. From its western edge near Portland and Vancouver to Goldendale and Biggs Junction in the east, the Columbia River Gorge is one of the most unique regions in the country. Its dozen cities and towns, each with its own intriguing personality, are nestled among hundreds of thousands of acres of public land encompassing some of the most breathtaking scenery on Earth. So extraordinary is the Columbia Gorge that Congress, a quarter century ago, designated this 85-mile stretch the nation’s first National Scenic
Area. This uncommon landscape draws people here for many reasons: the stunning beauty, world-class recreation, a vibrant arts scene, orchard and farm life, a burgeoning wine scene, the pleasures of rural living in progressive communities—the lifestyle that encompasses all of these things. The Gorge Magazine explores the essence of this lifestyle, of what it means to be in The Gorge. Each issue features articles about the people, places and things, the variety and abundance of experience that make those who live here and those who visit feel at once both ownership and an urge to share this place.
